Abandoned by the Gods
Týndur was once inhabited by several of the gods that rule the multiverse. Long ago, before written script, the realm was lost to demons and devils, forcing the gods to flee. With the gods no longer having a place, divine blessings are near impossible to find, rendering those of faith, who find themselves unfortunate enough to walk these lands, burdened with intense dread.

The Land of Sleepless Nights
Nobody quite knows what happened to the sun. One day after the demons arrived, nightfall came, but never seemed to go away. The moon would rise and fall, but the sun would never crest the horizon again. The realm sunk into an eternal night. Eventually, the people of Týndur grew accustomed to this tragedy, changing their working hours around the moon’s glow, and resting during the Sunless Dawn. Observers noticed a change in the moon following the sun’s disappearance. It seemed to grow to thrice its original size and the lunar cycles stopped, remaining full every night since.

The Horrific Wastelands
Outside of what few settlements exist, the world of Týndur has never been mapped out and is home to many terrifying beasts. There are no ruling kingdoms, no territories of power, just places deemed safe by those who work to make it so. Travel between settlements is often unheard of, but brings high paying jobs for bodyguards willing to risk life and limb. The only ones who dare walk the darklands alone are those of the sect of hunters who foolishly seek out evil, in a vain attempt to quell its presence.

Corrupted Divinity
Without the will of a divine presence, most religions quickly faltered. However, such a will does not necessarily need a divine source. Following the first Sunless Dawn, groups sought to research the terrible beasts that lingered within the darkness. Breakthroughs gave way to the discovery of divine concepts. Through enough willpower, simple concepts seemed to take on a power of their own. From this discovery, two paths were formed, one physical and one spiritual.
Those who sought the darkness as a catalyst found themselves empowered with the same forces that threatened their very lives. Meanwhile, most believed the darkness could only corrupt and so those who took this path were often scrutinized by the public, sometimes killed outright.
Thinking they could tame the beasts of darkness, the Seekers of Primal Eyes performed experiments on the corrupted in the name of the old gods. Soon they realized they could use the blood of these creatures in a way that provided enhanced power to whoever could wield it. Unfortunately, not everyone can withstand such corruption and survive.

Lost History
Time before the demonic invasion isn’t often recalled, but speckled throughout the dark lands exist ruins from long before. While most documents are likely dust by today, it’s still possible such ruins house historical records that may provide insight to how the world once was. Rumors persist of collectors desiring old world relics, desperate to keep the past unforgotten.

Advanced Magic
The people of Týndur are likely only alive today thanks to the efforts of Erun Talvin. During the later stages of the demonic assault, the wizard Talvin created a spell that could produce a ghostly blue flame that warded off the evil. Some say he was aided by the final acts of the gods, before their permanent departure. Since then, magicians experimented with the flame, leading to many inventions to stave off the dark. The settlements that utilize such inventions give off a false sense of being technologically advanced, due to simple machines that exist to fuel the fires.

Characters
Tactical hunters lay in wait, traps sets and ready to ambush their prey; once the beast is slain they earn their prize. A thirsty bandit is driven to drink the blood of a dying beast, corrupting his body, yet giving him untold strength that he’ll surely use to his advantage. Checking the outer walls, a simple guard finds a Talvin Flare unlit, attempting repairs out of her league, she is ambushed by a monster from the shadows. Týndur is a harsh and unforgiving land, where survival is determined by careful planning and execution.
