EA has officially cancelled the production of Dead Space 4. Despite positive reviews, Dead Space 3 sold poorly, prompting EA to put down the franchise. A team at Visceral Games was working on a prototype version and were discussing possible plots for the game when the publishers came into the offices to tell them to stop all work. Reports say that EA had been telling them to make a large variety of changes to the gameplay in order to make their micro transactions work. Weapon specific ammo was to be used, but this made the micro transaction system cumbersome, so the generic ammo type seen in-game was introduced. EA wanted to attract as large of an audience as possible, telling Visceral to make the game feel as much like Mass Effect as possible. First week sales of Dead Space 3 were down 26% compared to Dead Space 2's first week sales.

While Dead Space 4 may be cancelled, the upcoming DLC, Awakening, will continue Isaac and Carver's story. Producer Sharif Pattu confirmed the survival of both characters in an interview regarding Awakening. Awakening will be available sometime in March.

Bethesda is releasing an update patch to Skyrim later this month. Along with a lot of bug fixes, the update will bring two new features. The first is a new "Legendary" difficulty setting, this will be above Master. The second feature is the ability to make level 100 skills Legendary. By ascending your skills, they will be reset to level 15 and all perks in the tree will be removed. This system will allow you to continue progressing your overall level, removing the level 81 cap, giving more perk points to spend.
